The “Au Bord de la Riviere” shows women from the village at the edge of the river. Based on his love of country life and expressing the daily activities, this work is based on the work of artist Harris Rightways, who himself was inspired by the work of the French painter Jean-Bapiste Carot. In this scene here we see the women on the left calling the ferryman and another woman coming to collect water from the river into her vase. Similar in style to that of Francois Boucher, there is attention paid to the garments as well as the elements of nature and the water in this scene. This tapestry is backed with lining and tunnel for ease of hanging.
