This Oriental tapestry “Buddhaessence” portrays a modern and abstract depiction of the Buddha. In this tapestry we see the face of Buddha emerging like 3 dimensional objects from the elaborate design which are a stylised version of mandalas. It is a modern interpretation of the Bhudda from 563 BC. Born as Siddhartha Gautama, the word “Buddha” means the “awakened one”. Siddhartha was born as a prince and was destined to led a life to one day be king, but his father King Suddhodana protected him from religious influences and teachings as well as human suffering. After 30 years of life, Siddhartha left the palace to see the world. He sought enlightenment in an effort to understand life and eventually rejected acetism and found the “middle way”. He further reflected under the famous pipal tree for 49 days to find enlightenment. This Oriental tapestry “Buddhaessence” is unlined and has a tunnel for easy hanging.
