Call to Arms

This tapestry is based on the Edmund Blair Leighton. This artist’s works focuses on the medieval era and in this work we see a prince and his bride stepping out from the church. The works of Leighton typically have a knight with his loved one, or epic couples from history courting. His works have been described as pre-Raphaelite and romantic, and even photographic with a sense of romanticism. For this reason, you can feel as if the scene is occurring before your very eyes. The contact with the knight for the call to arms and the attention of the group is not entirely on the bride and groom as well as the activity of the knights on guard suggest an untold story in the kingdom that is about to begin. This tapestry is backed with a lining and a tunnel for easy hanging.
