This decorative Chinoiseries II tapestry shows a portiere style scene of oriental pagoda, trees and birds. It is based on the originals created in the 1750’s by Jean Pilement, for the Harolle castle in Lorraine, France. The theme of the Orient is seen here in the pagoda and costumes of the people in the scene, as well as in the exotic birds flying from the tree. Foliage themed curves and decorations complete the work, with sage greens and orange golds as their backgrounds. Chinoiseries II tapestry is backed with a lining and has a tunnel for easy hanging.
