Cueillette Sous Le Dais tapestry is based on the work of Jean Batiste Huet (1745 - 1811) and the original of which was woven in the Manufacture Royal Beauvais. Here we see a romanticised scene of the harvest of fruit from a fruit tree in the countryside. The title means "Gathering under the Canopy". There is a couple courting and young children playing with goats. The entire scene is decorated by a red cape canopy and flower garlands, so typical of pieces from French era of this time, adding romanticism to scenes of daily life in the countryside. Jean Batiste Huet was born in Paris and style is the Rococo style showing landscape scenes related to pastoral situations, not unlike the works of Francois Boucher. He works with both the tapestry manufacturers in Gobelins and Beauvais. The Cueillette Sous Le Dais tapestry is backed with a lining and a tunnel for easy hanging.
