La Prise de Lille III tapestry shows the town of Lille in 1667 at its seige by the French. Under Louis XIV, 14 tapestries were created to commemorate his victories, also known as the Story of the King, or l'Histoire du Roi, the originals of which were woven by the famous Gobelins manufacture in France. The Siege of Lille in 1667 within the War od Devolution, saw Louis XIV's troops in action led by the king himself. In this tapestry we see a scene from the hillside with the township below. The king and his men are in royal regalia including the full attire of wigs, hats and coats as they celebrate their victory. This fine art tapestry "La Prise de Lille III" is backed with a lining and has a rod pocket for easy hanging.
