Lady of Shalott

This tapestry shows “Lady of Shalott” the work of John William Waterhouse from 1883. The Lady of Shalott was a ballad by Lord Alfred Tennyson and tells of the Arthurian story of a mysterious lady living in an inland castle on a river and is seen here on her final voyage to Camelot. She is seen here in a white robe, surrounded by the reeds, flowing down the river. The color palette is golden with the ginger of her hair complementing the oranges and golds in the rest of the work. The works of Waterhouse are a combination of realism and fantasy and captures this scene beautifully. This art tapestry “Lady of Shalott” is unlined and has a tunnel for easy hanging.
