Here in the Lion – Nebuchadnezzar II tapestry, we see the famous wall painting from the temple of Marduk in the gate of Ishtar, the eighth gate in the inner city of Babylon. The wall was thought to be constructed in 575 BC under the rule of King Nebuchadnezzar II. Lions, dragons and aurochs were featured on these walls, and was considered one of the seven wonders of the world. Here we see the gorgeous lions. The walls were reconstructed in the 1930s at the Pergamon Museum in Berlin. Here we see the regal lion in his stride, with beautiful rust color, among the striking lapis lazuli. This Lion – Nebuchadnezzar II tapestry is backed with lining and tunnel for easy hanging.
