A depiction of the personification of music, after the work of Art Nouveau painter Alphonse Mucha. Mucha’s was best known for his renditions and studies of images of women. And as in his pieces depicting the four seasons, this piece Music shows a woman posing and presumably a singer, about to perform her song. It is based on the original from The Arts Series, around 1898. It has been said that Muscha’s works celebrated the female form in a sensual and artistic way, and as all his pieces involving women representing virtues and elements of nature or art, in this case music, the femininity always shines through, in the posture of her pose as well as the flowing dresses and garments that drapes her figure. This tapestry is backed with a lining and a tunnel for easy hanging.
