Prestige

A companion piece to “Prestige with bird” this tapestry shows the tropical forest illuminated in morning light. The single rubber tree reaches to the sky above the canopy of trees in the forest. The misty light shines translucently through its thin, willowy leaves. Reminiscent of 17th century Oriental art, “Prestige” offers those viewing it an escape into a fantasy world that doesn’t exist. In contrast to more realistic tapestries – such as those depicting a scene or landscape – the view here is meant to tease and challenge the senses. It is an imaginary world where one can escape, filling in what lies beyond the horizon or the edge. Beautifully colored and rich in texture, the forest is framed with a design of leaves and flowers. This tapestry is lined and comes with a tunnel for easy hanging.
