Serengeti Zebras

This tapestry “Serengeti Zebras” based on the work of artist Joseph Poirier, shows a herd of zebras crossing the Serengeti. The Serengeti is a region in Tanzania, Africa and is host to the largest migration of mammals on earth. The spring season of October heralds the mass migration of over 2 million animals from north to the south in search of rain and water. Among the migrators are the zebras, elephants, wildebeests and buffaloes. The change of seasons herald new challenges as these creatures change their habitat to start the annual migration. Here we see the striped zebras contrasting with the reds, greens and browns of the natural environment, represented her by Poirier in an abstract form.
