The work of contemporary artist Vail Oxley, “South of France” portrays a tranquil scene set along a country road in the south of France. The road leads to a 19th century villa just beyond the bend. Born in Beijing, Oxley is a prolific artist who has a command of several mediums and styles. His landscapes are well known for their picturesque locations, most often in the countryside. As you can see, his attention to detail is evident here. The individual branches of the bushes and each flower is meticulously reproduced in the tapestry, giving it an almost photographic appearance. The cypress trees, roses and winding path seem to come to life in the late afternoon light. This tapestry is lined and has a tunnel for easy hanging. Note: tapestry rod and tassels, where pictured, are purchased separately.
